Forgot to write the last day

Standard

Or maybe I didn’t want it to end.

Who would after vacation like, that I mean? So much fun, so many new experiences, not an argument in the bunch (never had to separate the kids) happy, smiley, enjoyment the whole time.
I mean what more could you ask for? We’re even thinking about planning next year’s trip can’t wait.

You can’t start a day at the Henry’s without a great cuppa Joe with froth. Mmmm! Doug makes the best coffee. There was also a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, & bananas. After which we made lunch in preparation for our trip to the mountain and our day hike.

image

We selected a hike from the front of this page without really looking at this list. Ironically, the hike we selected was from the strenuous options. Nonetheless, we had fun hiking! 1.4 miles straight up and 1.4 straight down with a little .25 mile loop tracked in at the beginning and the end. Little to no complaining happened at all from the four kids. (Amazing!) After the hike was over we ate lunch by the river. It was wonderful.

We were all so exhausted that all we wanted to do was order pizza for dinner. The boys played outside with new found friends and the parents went to watch sunset on Mount Rainer. It finally “showed up” as the locals say when the clouds part and the tallest mountain in the lower 48 appears. This picture doesn’t do the mountains grandeur justice. You’ll have to see pictures from my camera for that.

Day four play by play!

Hiking with cousins is always fun & when you enjoy the weather it is an added bonus. We hiked with Nelle & clan for two hours in a park called Lord Hill Park. We didn’t see exactly what we wanted but with good company and great weather it was perfection!

image

After the hike we went back to the house for a delicious lunch of mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwiches with taco salad. There we coffee and cookies for dessert. Afterwards we said our till Mondays and headed off to Tacoma & the Henry’s.

We met them in downtown Tacoma do the older boys could do what audiophiles do best shop for records!! The little boys were quite happy to hang out together for a while. Then it was off to JBLM (the base that Doug & Patti are stationed.

One last picture then it’s off to bed… Ben & Gavin had fun serenading the neighborhood before & after dinner. Good to see them happy & having fun together! Oh and dinner was delicious…steak & salmon.

What fun we had today with the Seattle Cunningham’s!! A trip to the Seattle zoo to see the lions, giraffes, elephants, penguins, meerkats, flamingos, and yes, even the warthogs! After the zoo we had a lovely picnic in the park of grapes, ham & cheese croissant sammers, kettle corn, cotton candy & water. Then it was off home for Lynelle to give little guy a nap & for Ethan and his cousin to play video games. Ferdi, Ben & I went thrifting…looking for ugly objects de artes as a gift. Finally, buca di beppi for dinner…delicious! The evening ending with a rousing game of badminton for Ferdi, Ethan and the two cousins, wonderful conversation for me & Nelle, a Lennux lesson for Ben topped off with ice cream & cookies for dessert.  Beautiful day three!

The flights were good with regard to customer service (and I would fly delta again…in a heart beat after today) &
timing. There was a lot of turbulence during the second flight. We were all a little freaked out by it, even a veteran flyer like me. However, there was an in flight movie…the avengers…and well, it kept Ethan & I entertained the majority of the flight. He fell  asleep somewhere in the major battle scene where hulk knocks thor off the truck. Anyway, all said and done and now settled in a hotel far enough away ddie the airport to asleep well and close enough to get a good night rest and still so a full day of fun tomorrow!!
